La traduction n’est pas encore disponible. Le résumé anglais est affiché ci-dessous.

Menachos 12 – Good Morning Raboisai What Is a Minchah and Its Four Avodos The daf opens by reviewing the structure of a Minchah : A Minchah is a flour offering, sometimes mixed with oil and levonah. It parallels animal korbanos and has four avodos , analogous to Zevachim: 1. Kemitzah – removing flour with three fingers (parallel to Shechitah) 2. Nesinah b’Kli – placing the kemitzah into a second kli shares (parallel to Kabbalah) 3. Holachah – walking it to the Mizbeach 4. Haktarah – burning the kemitzah on the Mizbeach The kemitzah is the matir , permitting the shirayim to be eaten by the Kohanim. Pigul in a Minchah – Chutz LaZman vs. Chutz LaMakom Just like animal korbanos, a Minchah can become pigul through מחשבה פסולה . Two types of improper thoughts: • חוץ לזמן (Chutz LaZman) Thinking to eat it after its permitted time → Pigul with כרת • חוץ למקום (Chutz LaMakom) Thinking to eat it outside its permitted place → פסול , no כרת A Minchah may only be eaten one day . Thinking “I’ll eat it tomorrow” during any one of the four avodos creates pigul. “Eating” Includes the Mizbeach A key yesod: • Haktarah (burning on the Mizbeach) is also considered “eating” • The Mizbeach is described as “eating” the kemitzah Therefore: • Thinking to burn the kemitzah tomorrow is also chutz lazman • Thinking to burn it outside the Mikdash is chutz lamakom One Machshavah Only — No Mixing For pigul to take effect: • There must be one pure, single invalid thought If a Kohen thinks: • “Tomorrow” and “outside the Mikdash” → Pigul does not take effect Rules: • Chutz LaZman first , then Chutz LaMakom → Pigul remains ( כרת applies) • Chutz LaMakom first , then Chutz LaZman → פסול , no כרת You cannot “upgrade” a weaker machshavah into pigul. K’zayis — Physical vs. Mental The Mishnah repeatedly mentions כְּזַיִת . Two possibilities: • A physical k’zayis remains in the bowl • Or the machshavah was about eating a k’zayis This distinction becomes central later. Shirayim Went Missing — What Is the Status? Case: • After kemitzah, some shirayim are missing (e.g. eaten by a mouse) Questions: • Does haktarah still permit the shirayim? • Can pigul still take effect? • Does me’ilah get removed? Rabbi Yochanan: • The kemitzah may still be burned • Even if shirayim are missing Comparison: • To Zerikas haDam on meat that went outside ( יוצא ) Missing vs. Outside — A Critical Distinction Rava introduces a powerful sevara: • Yotzei (outside) → physically intact, but in the wrong place • Chaser (missing) → something is gone entirely Despite this: • If what remains is inside the Mikdash, it is still considered “in the game” Therefore: • Haktarah can still work • Pigul can still apply • Me’ilah can still be removed Rebbi Chiya’s Version of the Mishnah Rebbi Chiya records the Mishnah without mentioning k’zayis . Why? Two explanations: • Rava: because k’zayis cannot apply to kemitzah • Abaye: because Rebbi Chiya follows Rabbi Elazar Rabbi Elazar holds: • Partial offerings do not combine • A k’zayis alone is insufficient in certain cases Thus: • The omission is intentional , not accidental Minchas Chotei and Minchas Kenaos Special cases: • Minchas Chotei • Minchas Kenaos If the Kohen thinks: • It is a different Minchah type → The offering is discarded entirely If this wrong identification is combined with pigul thoughts: • Pigul does not take effect • Because there is already a disqualifying machshavah Lechem HaPanim Parallel A related halacha: • If one loaf of Lechem HaPanim breaks → All loaves are forbidden But if one loaf becomes tamei : • The tzitz may permit it Key distinction: • Broken = missing • Tamei = intact but defiled Again: Missing is worse than outside or tamei Takeaway – Menachos 12 • A Minchah has four avodos parallel to korbanos • Pigul applies through machshavah during any avodah • Haktarah counts as “eating” • Only one pure invalid thought creates pigul • Chutz LaZman is stricter than Chutz LaMakom • Shirayim missing does not necessarily block haktarah • “Missing” is often worse than “outside” • Rebbi Chiya’s wording reflects a deliberate shittah • Precision in both thought and substance defines validity לעילוי נשמת אמי מורתי רות בת הרב מנחם מנדל
