דף היומי סיכום — Chullin 2
די איבערזעצונג איז נאָך נישט גרייט. דער ענגלישער סיכום ווערט געוויזן.
Chullin 2 – Good Morning Raboisai Basics of Shechita • Shechita requires cutting the two simanim : o Trachea (windpipe) o Esophagus (food pipe) Must be a proper slicing motion, not pressing “Hakol Shochtin” – What Does It Mean? • Mishnah says: “Everyone can shecht” Question: • Does this mean lechatchila (initially) or only bedieved (after the fact) ? Two Parts of the Mishnah • “Hakol Shochtin” → one din • “U’shechitasan Kesheirah” → another din They are not repeating — each teaches something different Who Cannot Shecht? • Cheresh (deaf - mute) • Shoteh (mentally unstable) • Katan (child) Reason: • They may ruin the shechita If Someone Watches • If a competent person witnesses the shechita Then it can be valid • Even if the person shechting is otherwise problematic Key Shechita Problems Invalid forms include: • Shehiyah → pausing during cutting • Derasah → pressing instead of slicing • Chaladah → knife hidden inside (not visible cut) Proper shechita must be smooth and continuous Example – Lechatchila vs Bedieved • Lechatchila → what you are allowed to do initially • Bedieved → what is acceptable after it already happened Example: • Something not allowed to do, but if done → still valid “Hakol” – General Rule • Sometimes “Hakol” means: Lechatchila • Sometimes: Bedieved Must be determined from context Case – Tameh Person – Rabba Bar Ulla • A tameh person can shecht chullin Even lechatchila • Since no issue of tumah in regular animals Special Case – Chullin Like Kodshim • Some people treat chullin like korbanos Extra level of care (tahara) • Might think tameh person cannot shecht Chiddush: • He can, if careful Practical Solution • Tameh person uses a long knife So he doesn’t touch the meat By Kodshim • By real korbanos: Must be more careful • Concern: He might touch and invalidate After the Fact • If we know he did not touch: Shechita is valid Need for Witness • If the person is unavailable to confirm A witness who saw it is needed Why Mention This Here? • Even though similar halacha appears elsewhere Here it is taught in context of shechita rules Key Takeaways • Shechita requires cutting both simanim properly • “Hakol Shochtin” needs clarification (lechatchila vs bedieved) • Certain people cannot shecht due to risk of mistakes • Invalid shechita includes pausing, pressing, or hidden cutting • Tameh person can shecht chullin, even lechatchila • Extra chumros apply when treating chullin like kodshim • Witness can validate uncertain shechita cases Catch up, review, download previous Dafim & more: https://www.dafchazarah.co.uk Now available as an app (Apple, Google & Amazon): https://dafchazarah.co.uk/download Sponsor a day: https://dafchazarah.co.uk/sponsor לעילוי נשמת אמי מורתי רות בת הרב מנחם מנדל
