Menachos 60 – Good Morning Raboisai When לבונה Was Placed on a Minchas Choteh A Minchas Choteh or Minchas Sotah must contain only flour , with no oil and no לבונה . If someone placed לבונה on it: • If the לבונה is still separate, it can simply be removed and the Mincha remains valid. • If it became mixed in so finely that it cannot be removed , the Mincha becomes פסול . The Gemara analyzes whether the issue is: • Because the לבונה cannot be removed , or • Because it becomes part of the flour mixture . This question remains unresolved. Pigul Cannot Take Effect When Another Problem Exists If לבונה remained mixed in and the Kohen later had a Pigul thought (intent to eat the Mincha after its proper time): The Mincha becomes פסול , but not Pigul . Pigul requires a pure invalidating thought with no other issue present. Since the Mincha already contains an improper ingredient ( לבונה ), the Pigul status cannot fully take effect. If the לבונה is removed afterward , the Mincha returns to its previous valid status. The Concept of דיחוי (Pushed - Off Korban) The Gemara asks: If the Mincha was invalid while the לבונה remained inside, it should be considered דחוי (pushed off) and permanently disqualified. Several answers are given: Abaye: The Torah calls this Mincha a חטאת , giving it special status that allows it to regain validity. Rava: According to certain opinions, some korbanos are not subject to דיחוי . Rav Ashi: Since the לבונה can easily be removed, the Mincha was never considered truly rejected. Oil vs. לבונה on a Minchas Choteh The Torah forbids placing oil or לבונה on a Minchas Choteh. However, the outcomes differ: • Oil – If oil touches the Mincha, it becomes פסול , because oil absorbs into the flour and cannot be removed. • לבונה – If it remains separate, it may be taken off , and the Mincha is still valid. The Four Categories of Menachos The Mishnah lists four types regarding oil and לבונה : 1. Require both oil and לבונה 2. Require oil but not לבונה 3. Require לבונה but not oil 4.
